Everybody thinks moving abroad automatically means you’ve made it.

But sometimes it means figuring out rent in a new city and wondering why half your salary disappeared in one week.

It means repeating yourself in meetings because of your accent… then replaying the conversation in your head later.

It means sending money home while trying to build your own savings at the same time.

It means missing weddings, birthdays, and those random Sunday family moments you never thought you’d miss this much.

It means smiling on FaceTime and saying “everything is fine” while quietly figuring things out behind the scenes.

Diaspora life can be beautiful.

And exhausting.

And lonely.

And worth it.

All at the same time lol.

A lot of us are carrying more than people back home can see.

Just imagine…

You’ve moved abroad.

You’re earning.

You’re trying your best.

Then you enter the grocery store and chicken is somehow $18 😭😂

And suddenly you

understand why everybody abroad says:

“Let me check my account first.”

So let’s talk about it 👇🏾

What’s one thing about living abroad people don’t talk about enough?

For me?
No matter how much you earn… somehow it still feels like it’s not enough 😂
